STEM graduates everywhere, one of the most generous graduate funding packages in the world is open for Fall 2027, and it comes from a research university on the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia.
The King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, known as KAUST, is a graduate only research university in Thuwal. It admits students for MS, combined MS and PhD, and PhD programmes in science, engineering, computing, mathematics and related fields. Applications for Fall 2027 opened on 28 September 2026 and close on 3 January 2027, with the semester starting on 29 August 2027.
Every student admitted to KAUST receives the KAUST Fellowship for the duration of the degree. The fellowship provides full tuition support, a living allowance of about 20,000 US dollars a year for masters students and 25,000 to 30,000 US dollars a year for PhD students, on campus housing, medical and dental coverage, and relocation support. There is no separate fellowship application form: admission to KAUST carries the funding with it.
Applicants need a relevant bachelors degree for a masters programme, or a relevant masters degree for a PhD, official transcripts, a curriculum vitae, a statement of purpose, three recommendation letters, and an accepted English test score where required. The GRE is not required, although KAUST says a strong score can help an application. Because English score summaries have been updated for this cycle, check the exact requirement for your programme on the official admissions site before you book a test.
If you are a science or engineering graduate planning funded research abroad, prepare your documents early, contact your three referees now, and submit well before the deadline.
